Check the reason the door is blocked

If the door asks for a full stomach, your next task is to eat. Leave the chest search for later: this message is a meal requirement, not a named key lock.

Prepare and eat the food available to you

  1. Check the food and cooking setup available before the door.
  2. Prepare food at the available setup. Look for the roasting rack shown here when choosing where to cook.
  3. Eat, then go back and interact with the door again.

Use the door's full-stomach condition as your check rather than assuming a set number of apples or mushrooms will always be enough.

Recognize the roasting rack above the fire. Collect prepared food instead of leaving it there while you explore.

If it still will not open

  • The message still asks for food: return to the cooking setup and eat before trying again.
  • The message names a key: use the door and obstacle checklist for that lock instead.
  • Your food burned: prepare another meal and stay beside the roasting setup. In v1013, unattended rotisserie food can burn.

Prepare for more than the first door

Once you pass the gate, food remains part of expedition preparation. See cooking and food care for burning and spoilage, then use the carrying checklist to separate food from the tools needed for your next route.
