Bring the casting inputs

InputWhat to prepare
Key moldThe mold for the key you need to cast
Coal5
Scrap Metal10

Group all three inputs before the forge trip so you do not arrive with metal but leave the mold or fuel behind.

Use the existing Big Smelter

  1. Bring the mold, Coal and Scrap Metal to the Big Smelter.
  2. Use that station to cast the key with the listed inputs.
  3. Check that the resulting item is the Iron Key before heading to the lock.

Look for the large receptacle shown in the forge image. The key-casting station is the existing Big Smelter, not the ordinary Workbench.

Use the Iron Key door, not the Jaguar puzzle

Look for the Iron Key door beside the Jaguar Door puzzle. The two are neighboring landmarks, not two names for the same solution.

Beyond the Iron Key door, the demo's later key task is the Prison Key. Keep that distinction in mind: casting the Iron Key does not give you the key for the final prison door.

Check these before spending more materials

  • Wrong station: this recipe uses the Big Smelter. A Workbench menu is a separate crafting system.
  • Missing input: check the mold as well as both material counts. Carrying metal alone does not complete the set.
  • Wrong lock: distinguish the Iron Key door from the adjacent Jaguar puzzle and the later Prison Door.

If carrying the inputs crowds out your route tool or light, plan the trip with the inventory checklist.

Casting reference

The input quantities are supported by NPC Tips' demo key guide and MeowDB's obstacle and lock reference. For station menus rather than key casting, continue to camp crafting.
