Bring both components to the Workbench

The finished-tool recipe is 1 Hook + 1 Rope → Grappling Hook at a Workbench. A Hook by itself is not the completed tool, and Rope alone does not replace it.

Use the existing Workbench if available to you, or budget a new one separately. Its construction ingredients are additional to the Grappling Hook's two components.

Check the component recipes

  • Rope: 2 Vines and 1 Stick through hand crafting.
  • Hook: 1 Iron Rod through hand crafting, when that recipe is available in your menu.

If you can make both components, their raw-material budget is 1 Iron Rod, 2 Vines and 1 Stick. If you already have a Hook or Rope, use that component rather than spending the materials again.

The component and finished-tool recipes are separate entries in the demo recipe reference.

Make HookOnly if the Hook recipe is already visible in your hand-crafting menu.

Keep traversal tools separate from barrier tools

The Grappling Hook belongs to the traversal toolkit. The developer's crafting overview describes tools opening new ways through the dungeon.

For a specific blocker, match the tool to the task: Hammer for bars, Torch for the prison-approach webs. See Rope for its other crafting use in the Backpack.
